High school tryouts are just around the corner. The parent meeting is Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at BHS. This meeting and tryouts are for BOTH high schools.
This means middle school tryouts are on the horizon. Below are some important dates for you to remember!

Cheer tryouts of the coming year are April 9, 2010. The clinic will be April 6-8th from 4-6 in the PITT.
The MANDATORY parent meeting will be Thursday, March 11, 2010.

The girls have been working very hard on the dance for the pep rally. I appreciate everyones patience with practices running late and last minute practices.
Next Friday is a Pep Rally practice with the 8th grade squad as well. I am not going to be there. I am taking my daughter to tour Texas Tech 
I don’t think I’m ready for this, but oh well!! Mrs. Lindgron will be there running practice. Basically the girls will be running though the pep rally schedule, going over some cheers, and practicing their dance a few times. Then on the following Monday and Tuesday we have our last practices before the pep rally. Pay close attention to the time on Monday as I have ASD after school and won’t be able to get there until 5:00.

As the pep rally nears, things will get busier. Please make sure the girls are at all practices ( I know the volleyball players will miss). Stay in tune with the calendar for updates on practices.
Girls need to start wearing their midriffs to the games. It is now a part of the uniform, therefore it is required. If the weather looks like it is going to be really warm, I will let them change, or if I know before that day, I will email everyone.
Its been a great year so far. I am having fun with the girls. The dance is going well and I can’t wait to see the final product.

Well, the girls did really good for their game. A little polishing, but great job. I wanted to update everyone on a few things.
1. Homecoming parade is Thursday. The traffic is terrible from 5:00 on. I told the girls to be there by 5:15, or it will take you forever to get in and out. After the parade, we will wait for you by the float in the same place we started. I cannot let the girls run off to find you. Please come get them from me. They are my responsibility and I would die if something happened to one of them while going off to find their ride in all the traffic. I know it may take you a while to get there, but I will wait.
2. Mrs. Matthews gave me some tattoos to sell and she also has some wrist bands. I think these are great things to sell and would love to have volunteers come during the lunches to help the girls sell them. (They must have an adult present to sell.) All you have to do is sit there and keep up with the money. They can walk around and sell. I would love to start this next Tuesday on game day. So, if you can work one of the times below, please let me know and I will start a schedule. Email me with the time you can work and which game day you would like. If we could hit all three lunches at some point, that would be great.
Lunch times are:
6th 11:00 – 11:30
7th 12:00 – 12:30
8th 1:00 – 1:30
3. My calendar is up and running. I found a few errors, but hopefully I have fixed them all. Please note the extra practices at the end of this month and throughout October. Our first pep rally will be Friday, October 30, 2009. We play Hughes the next Monday (7th) and Tuesday (8th). If your daughter cannot attend one of the practices in blue or pink, please let me know asap. The first two are when we will learn the pep rally dance, so I need everyone there to make sure formations work etc.
Thanks for everything you all do. I have been so blessed to have such a great parent support both years. I really appreciate it.

Our first practice went great. The girls learned several new chants. Please refer to the calendar for practice times. They vary depending on what is going on at the time. Right now since we are learning new chants, I like to have longer practices. However, Thursday, Sept 3 I am working the Freshman game for the varsity cheerleaders – selling t-shirts – and I have to leave at 5:10. Please be sure your cheerleader is picked up on time.

Hope you all are having a great summer! I have a few things I needed to update you on.
1. I noticed the emails about the Football Schedule. On my website should be all the games, times, and teams playing. All games start at 5:00pm. If we have three games, we are usually done about 8ish. If we only have two, an hour earlier.
I did notice that I didn’t change some of the times from AM to PM, so remember those are all PM times!
As soon as school gets started, they will post an updated football, volleyball, and basketball schedules. As soon as I get a basketball schedule, I will post all that information as well. Please let me know if you are having a hard time with the calendar, or website.
2. On Monday, August 11, 2009, I will be at Kerr from 1:00-5:30. You may come pick up your daughters uniforms at anytime during that day from Kerr. I can’t stay any later because the building will be locked. If you cannot make it during these hours, email me and I will see if we can schedule another time, OR if you can make arrangements for your cheerleader to come with someone else, that would be great. We have everything but Spirit Jerseys at this time. I am hoping they will be ready by then.
3. Don’t forget we have practice on August 18 & 20. That is the Tues and Thurs before Cougar Camp and Calling All Cougars. Please let me know if there are any schedule conflicts. I posted this on the calendar today.

Hello parents,
Here are some things that as parents, you need to be thinking about! Please feel free to contact a parent from the other squad, or myself, if you have questions. We have all be through this before!
***Signs – At some point this summer, the girls need to make run through signs. This is not something we do at practice since we have limited time at practices. In the past, the girls have met at different peoples homes, and had a sign painting party. I have all the supplies you need and will have a football schedule soon. I would like to make sure we make signs for Volleyball as well. We don’t cheer for them, but we need to support them. Remember, there are three games a night. A, B & C. We need a run-through for each game. I would also like to make some extra signs for the halls as well.
***Homecoming float - you need to be getting stuff together for the float…trailer…decorations…etc.. Homecoming is Sept. 11, so the parade will be Sept 10. Its early in the year again.
***Pep Rallies – We will be having two pep rallies. Hopefully they will be when we play Hughes. When we play Hughes, we always exchange a small gift with their cheerleaders. I can get a count for you. We would like to make some extra signs for the pep rallies as well.
***Back to school party!
***Christmas party!
***End of Year Party!
