We will be wrapping up Tangerine this week.  Tuesday is a Mock TAKS, so we will be on altered schedule.

We are still reading Tangerine.  We will finish the end of January.  The 3rd and final Tangerine Assignment is due next Friday, January 22, 2010.  Please make sure you don’t wait till the last minute.  We will continue to have vocabulary on Fridays.  We are also going to continue to make flash cards each week for a grade.  I will be assigning Homework lunch if they are not turned in on Friday.

Semester Exam Review

Well, its the first week of the six weeks…or should I say 5 weeks.  Due to the low grades on the Grammar test, we are going to review all the parts of speech again and take the test again.  The same test!  We will also begin reading Tangerine by Edward Bloor this week.  This is a great book about a boy who loves to play soccer.  I think the kids are going to love it.

Wednesday is our first checkpoint for the year.  This will be a test grade for this six weeks.

Thursday – Begin reading Tangerine

Hello parents and students,

It has been a crazy two weeks and I am very behind on updating my website.  I apologize for the inconvenience. 

The new six weeks has begun and we are off an going on Literature Circles.  I have heard many compliments about the book.  Some kids have already finished the book!  We will continue to have vocabulary every week as well.  Also, we have started working on grammar two or three days a week.  We will continue this throughout the literature circles, then we will scale back to one day a week.  Below is an estimated timeline for Literature Circles

Hello,

I am late this week, but the blogs have not been working.  I hope everything is fixed now.

This week in class we have started working on identifying literary elements in short stories.  We began by reading The Dinner Party and completeing a plot chart.  We will read The Retrieved Reformation on Thursday and work on finding theme, creating another plot chart, and discussing character traits.

We will be reading the mythology choice books first.  If you are not buying books from KMS, please make sure your student has their choice book by 9/21/09.  If you cannot purchase the books, please let me know so I know how many books I need to provide.  It is not required that you purchase the books, but highly recommended.
