Wednesday is our first checkpoint for the year.  This will be a test grade for this six weeks.

Tuesday – Nouns & Pronouns

Wednesday – Checkpoint

Thursday – Begin reading Tangerine

Friday – Vocab Quiz and Grammar Quiz over Nouns and Pronouns.

It has been a crazy two weeks and I am very behind on updating my website.  I apologize for the inconvenience. 

The new six weeks has begun and we are off an going on Literature Circles.  I have heard many compliments about the book.  Some kids have already finished the book!  We will continue to have vocabulary every week as well.  Also, we have started working on grammar two or three days a week.  We will continue this throughout the literature circles, then we will scale back to one day a week.  Below is an estimated timeline for Literature Circles

Oct. 8, 2009 – First Lit. Circle Meeting

I am late this week, but the blogs have not been working.  I hope everything is fixed now.

This week in class we have started working on identifying literary elements in short stories.  We began by reading The Dinner Party and completeing a plot chart.  We will read The Retrieved Reformation on Thursday and work on finding theme, creating another plot chart, and discussing character traits.

We will be reading the mythology choice books first.  If you are not buying books from KMS, please make sure your student has their choice book by 9/21/09.  If you cannot purchase the books, please let me know so I know how many books I need to provide.  It is not required that you purchase the books, but highly recommended.
